Kareem is off to a strong start in his senior year. His grades for the first marking period continue to show Kareem's determination to take full advantage of his opportunity at Forman, with all of his grades above 90. He is Procter of his dorm, with leadership duties that include making sure the underclassmen are at their books during evening study time and following up on everyone's chore assignments in the dorm. Kareem had another outstanding year on the football field, leading Forman to the championship game in their prep football league. Forman lost in the championship game vs. Fieldston, but the team and Kareem make a great effort. (Kareem had a wonderful 80 yard run for a touchdown that will be great for his highlight reel for college coaches) We're now entering the college planning season in earnest and will keep you posted on our progress.
On the financial front, we need to raise a bit over $16,000 this year. This is about 80% vs. last year as Forman has generously increased Kareem's financial aid package for his senior year. So far, we have a little over $10,000 raised. We need to have all the money to Forman by the end of December. If you haven't made your donation yet, it would be great if you could get it in soon. You can donate online at http://charlieco.com/kareem or you can make your check out to The Forman School, note Kareem Cope on the memo line, and mail it to Charlie Taney, 9 Outer Road, Norwalk, CT 06854.
Thanks very much to everyone who has donated.

July 3, 2010. This is to provide an update of Kareem's junior year. It's all good news. To quote Kareem's advisor at Forman, "Kareem took full advantage of his opportunity at Forman." He worked hard on his studies and finished the year with an academic average of 90+ across six subjects. Kareem received special academic recognition for his work in Chemistry and Learning Strategies. And, in a good indication of his emerging leadership skills, Kareem has been elected Prefect of his senior dorm. On the sports front, Kareem was awarded the Offensive MVP for football, the Coaches Award in basketball and took up lacrosse in the spring with a vengence. It's time to start the college planning process. The College Advisory team at Forman has recommended that Kareem look at Stonybrook, Marist, Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut. We are in the process of arranging campus visits and meetings with the football staff at each college. Our goal is find a college for Kareem where he can be successful academically and get a full scholarship for football. Thanks to the eighty-five individuals on Team Kareem who have contributed to Kareem's education at Forman. Your investment in Kareem is already paying very good dividends! Warm regards, Charlie Taney
